How Can I Not Love You?A Poem by TexasThis is not my usual genre. Branching out is a good thing. How can I not love you? My heart beats for you, My soul aches for you, Whenever I am near you.
They say true love is only fantasy, between lover only twenty. But they know not my love for you, Nor do they know your love for me.
They can't see how perfectly my hand fits into your's, How perfectly our fingers interlace. They can't feel how right it is when you hold me on your arms so tight, Nor can they feel your warm embrace. They don't hear how gentle your voice calls my name, How softly you speak to me. They can't smell the scent you have that reminds me of our times together, Sitting in the park wathcing kids play in fallen autumn leaves dreaming ours doing the same. They can't taste how intoxicating the kisses we share are, How passionate your gentle kiss on my hand is.
How can I not love you? You spoke to me unorthodox words, Words that carry more weight than a simple "I love you", Words that sealed out inevitable divine fate. "You are mine. You belong only to me. I will never let you go." © 2009 TexasAuthor's Note
