The Ending of A LifeA Poem by TexasFor my graduating class of 2008. No, not being spoken at graduation. This was written like a week, week and a half before graduation. Oh, and it was written during lunch and final drafted during *gasp* Physics. And this is the last poem from Physics.Thirteen years, For some fourteen, maybe fifteen or more, That is all there is to know. We know no other. What seemed so long a wait, Now seems too quick to come, Like that of lightening. We cry only because we do not know what to do next. This life is all we know. Mothers cry. Fathers cry, not hiding from public. Their job is done, So now they cry. When we are handed that roll of paper, It is surreal. When we shake the hands, It does not sink in. It sinks when all is said and done, And family members leave, To wait for the next one to come. (And some family you wish would just stay at home and had never come to yours) It is then that we realize our life has ended. Our life of Elementary, Junior High and Senior High, Is now over. It is the ending of a life, When we graduate. And it is the beginning of a new, amazing life. Class of 2008. © 2008 TexasAuthor's Note
