Death Would Not Stop For MeA Poem by TexasWho do you think I got the idea from? Yes, Emily Dickenson did give inspiration for this one. And I have had a close call with Death.Death would not stop for me. Though we are close. Thrice have we met. But one of those three were closest. He would not take me, that one night. "Your time is far from here" he said, "I am here to comfort you. To know I am ne'er far from you." Ironic as it is, I was not afraid. Death and I are close, you see. We parted one another, I to stay and He to leave. Ne'er have we been so close than that one night. Adversaries we are not, but friends are we. When we meet at times, as God commands, we are knowing strangers. Death would not stop for me. Though we are close. Thrice have we met, But once of three were closest. He would not take me, "Your time is not yet to come." Death would not stop for me, Because I would not stop for Death. © 2010 TexasAuthor's Note
