The Quiet RunA Poem by TexasI wrote this in Physics when we had free time. I give credit to my lamb, Jacqueline, for inspiring this poem. And Bleu, my first lamb, and Nëol, my second lamb. This is also the longest poem I've written. It's about 29 lines on notebook paper.Hear the quiet of the run. Hear the foot steps of the feet upon the browngreen grass-weeds. Hear the crickets bow their songs and the birds up above. Hear the flutter of the wings when I near their perch above. Hear the baa of the lamb, meek and mild is her voice. Hear the four steps behind me walk, through the run, away from the city-leading road. Turn to hear the road left behind, to face the murmur of city-life. Hear the sound of cars and trains crescendo to a din. Hear the four hooves become one, as she bounces to the gate, baaing to be let in. Waiting patience she does have, as I strole to the end. Fingers upon chain-link fence as I move carelessly. Listen to the quiet run, Listen to the crickets play, Listen to the birds sing, Listen to the russel of brown and green grass, Listen to the wind in trees and tall weed-grass. Hear the roar from the city din as I grow near. Hear the squeak of the gate as I leave the quiet run. Hear the baaing of the lamb as she leaves the quiet run. Tomorrow is another day to walk the quiet run. Today is through, it's time for me to leave. "See ya in the mornin' Jacqueline." "We'll run tomorrow if it's bright." "Sleep well tonight. I love you. Goodnight." Today is through, it's time to sleep, Dreames remember the quiet run, keep safe in thy grasp. Let me dream the quiet run. Let me hear the quiet run, Hear the quiet of the run. © 2008 TexasAuthor's Note
