Little JennyA Poem by Gary West
Little Jenny scrubbed her hands across her eyes
Trying to wipe away the tears She did not want to weep, she did not want to cry For the loss of a loved one so dear She wanted to be strong, to show everyone That she could handle the pain But her grandpa saw her eyes, he could see the hurt inside And so he knelt to explain "Don't ever try to hide your tears Don't be afraid to weep And when you feel the pain, let the tears flow 'Cause that's how the angels filled the sea" As the years passed by, Jenny lived her life She listened to her grandpa dear He told her of God's love, how Christ came from above He said, "You can have Him here." He pointed to her heart, said, "God will never part Unless you push Him away" Jenny got on her knees, said, "God save me, please" Then she heard her grandpa say "Don't ever try to hide your tears Don't be afraid to weep And when you feel the love, let your feelings show 'Cause that's how the angels filled the sea" Jenny loved the Lord and she obeyed His Word She lived what she believed But her grandpa passed away, year after she got saved And, oh, how little Jenny grieved Then at the grave that day, when people stood and prayed And lay her grandpa to rest Jenny stood and spoke those words her grandpa told Words that withstood the test "Don't ever try to hide your tears Don't be afraid to weep And when you feel the pain, let the tears flow 'Cause that's how the angels filled the sea Don't ever try to hide your tears Don't be afraid to weep And when you feel the love, let your feelings show 'Cause that's how the angels filled the sea © 2014 Gary WestAuthor's Note
