Scars

Scars

A Story by Gary West

Scars are ugly.

They mar, they disfigure, and they mutilate. They invoke disgust and distrust in people who see them, as though they are the marks of dreadful secrets and horrid sins. But is that all?

You see, scars paint pictures, spell words, tell stories. They testify to the trials and tribulations through which a person has come, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. They are a legend to the map of one's life. They speak of an individual’s endurance to last through the difficulties and their tenacity to continue on. They are a legacy.

Scars are beautiful.

I am scarred.

Excellent. I think all of us are scarred in some way, but there are those who will admit it and those who won't, and I guess Sigmund Freud might know the answer why.

Not much to tell. I like to dabble in writing every now and again, as well as penning a few poems and songs. My preferred genre of writing is fantasy, but I've also touched into the "modern" setting, .. more..
