And I SmileA Poem by tessFor my Day One.Your lips are bound, Head inching closer toward knowledge. I can’t imagine a mind so pure, So quick, so lovely. I look at you and I smile, Heartbeat accelerates, Lips forced shut Covered by my shadow’s hands. Your eyes glisten, Hands meet the small of my back. And I start to feel sick So quick, so queasy. You look at me and I smile. You smile. Nothing could be so perfect. So pure. But we are both bound to another, And I'm afraid if I touch you, you’ll die. I’ll die. But we touch anyway. The whole room goes black for a minute, I look at you, You sparkle showing the way And I smile. © 2017 tess |
