Soul Fire

Soul Fire

A Poem by Tim Butcher
"

There's a kindle that burns in everyone. Many of us for different things, some of us on the same strings. Regardless, each and every one of us has a Soul fire.

"

For me so many times before
It was always a downpour
The tears would flow, the heart would ache
One of us would feel betrayed
Yet this time it was different
Without noticing we drifted
And here we go, separated

Now time has flown by
It’s a different day, the same sky
I never wanted to say goodbye
But fate didn’t want it by design

Although we agreed to part ways
It doesn’t help the passing days
I continue onward, with this power
Burning on, aimlessly, with desire
What else is there to say?
These feelings are best kept at bay
But even so….
I’ll tend to my soul fire

All those wondrous memories
Like a warm summer breeze
Once shackles to my heart
I feel the embrace within my soul
I feel that want, that pull
But it’s time to do other deeds
It’s time to face my reality

Where do I go from here?
For myself alone, I steer
To find what I will hold dear
For another, to shed my tears
Now I stand alone, on this field
My soul fire now my shield
I won’t give up, I won’t yield

Now time has passed away
It’s a different time, the same day
Although we have parted way
Fate never wanted us to stay

Although we agreed to part ways
I continue forward, with this pain
What else is there to say?
It wasn’t all in vain
I’m no longer bounded by chains
So with that…
I tend to my soul fire
