Cortina in the Snow

Cortina in the Snow

A Poem by Tertia

You are dancing to Mud Slide
Right by the stereo
Singing with Taylor
To all the words
Your big sisters taught you
And don’t forget the Blue Horizon

Tape player is hanging around
The gearstick whirring a song
Taking us to where we would go
The city of hustle and lights
Coming back at midnight gone
Looking at pink clouds rolling
And the stars we’d never know

The Cortina skids in the snow
And it turned around
And turned us around
But somehow we were safe
In the middle of the icy road
We got to the places in between
Because we had nowhere else

Music snow fun.. All thing fun were there.... And then that skid. It turned around and turned us around.... So nice to read..

Deft, descriptive and light-hearted togetherness, dancing to Mud Slide - the now, then - the Blue Horizon. suggesting out of this world perhaps>? In other words soon as i reached third stanza I was wondering this and that. Whatever your intention, this is such a smoothly laid post and oh so graphic!

slide a glide nor a riptide won't ever hinder your stride dear Tertia

There is a carefreeness to this poem. It reminds me of when I was 17.

This poem feels very romantic to me. It seems like the kind of experience I've always dreamed about but never quite got to have.

Great work my dear !! the last 4 lines of first stanza are amazing and the poem is really adorable .

Sounds like the recollection of an actual event. The impression is that it was a close call, and may have altered the speaker's philosophy of life. You've never lived until you've almost died.

sounds like a fun time, going to the big city

Even tho your poem sounds like a literal description of an evening of fun which ended in a car skid-out, I'm also picking up a hint of symbolism, possibly how this particular night was an experience that "turned this narrator around" in some inner or subliminal way. Like life is hinting that this situation is going in a bad direction, but the narrator is too wound up in the literal events of the evening to take heed about the situation in general (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Cortina in snow/
I was thinking of Italy and the Dolomites; 11,000 ft peaks snow-covered all year
We were there in September following a heavy overnight snow temp -12C
The road of packed ice (5,000ft)
Road was closed a car had done a dance down the hill i front of us; hitting both verges on the way
No one hurt but none of the doors could be opened
