Cortina in the Snow

Cortina in the Snow

A Poem by Tertia

You are dancing to Mud Slide
Right by the stereo
Singing with Taylor
To all the words
Your big sisters taught you
And don’t forget the Blue Horizon

Tape player is hanging around
The gearstick whirring a song
Taking us to where we would go
The city of hustle and lights
Coming back at midnight gone
Looking at pink clouds rolling
And the stars we’d never know

The Cortina skids in the snow
And it turned around
And turned us around
But somehow we were safe
In the middle of the icy road
We got to the places in between
Because we had nowhere else

Very nice poem. I especially like these two lines:
Tape player is hanging around
The gearstick whirring a song

I enjoyed this especially the last two lines of the second stanza and the last stanza, they had power.

A tale of almost...didn't quite get to your destination, but glad you were safe....Liked all the music imagery; I'm thinking this might have been a dream; or just remembering old times with old music and cars..In any case i like the structure and the words used in the poem.

Sorry it was only a mere Ford Cortina
Excellent - really well structured and nicely understated.

Uplifting poem full of life and how it should be lived ... enjoying the moment of things. Loved the mention of "Tapeplayer" nostalgic times for me haha. Do you know in 1935. Reel to Reel recording tapes were invented. But beautifully penned. The car ride is always an escape to one's paradise. Keep writing sincerely your friend in poetry and life
