Buried In The Sand

Buried In The Sand

A Poem by Terry O'Leary

A beggar clump adorns a dump, his pencil box in hand -
With sightless eyes upon the skies he’s lying there unmanned.

He’s fallen down in Shantytown, his knees too weak to stand,
With no relief and bitter grief too dark to understand.

The Bowery blight is hid from sight, it’s covered up offhand
While Robin Hood and Brother Hood are buried in the sand.

'And Robin Hood and Brother Hood lie buried in the sand.'

Turning a blind eye, the curse that ensures mankind will never exist in true peace and harmonious equality.

Sadly there are many homeless people in America, many ex soldiers, others dope addicts, others jobless. Wish God helped them all to rise above their problems. Valentine

sounds like the plight of the homeless whose robin hoods have all been buried with their Sherwood forest and covered by the metropolis of Nottingham... many of us busy our heads in the sand, thus turning our blind eyes to the poverty and those struggling around us... maybe we can dig up those robin hood dreams one at a time...well-done, Terry
