Suicide is Brave

Suicide is Brave

A Poem by Terrence McGoldrick
"

Is suicide really the cowards way out?

"
You see the popular kids pull their victim's hair
You see the teacher's pay no attention to the victim
You see the principal act nonchalant about the victim's pain

You see the victim ask for mercy and some sanity
You see the victim plead with God to cure her pain
You see the victim beg for kindness, help & love

You see the popular kids give their victim anything but mercy
You see the teacher's have no interest in curing the victim's pain
You see the principal refuse any help for the victim

You see the victim realize that this will never end
You see the victim write her suicide note
You see the victim hang herself

I was intrigued by the title. Often people don't take the stance that suicide is brave. I don't believe that suicide is a cowardly thing because it must take some serious feelings and guts to actually do it. I'm conflicted about if I'd call it brave because the word brave has such a positive connotation, you know? It definitely isn't the easy way out, that's for sure.

This story happens all too often, and it's such a shame. I definitely understand the mind of the victim at this point but damn....the cowards are the ones who don't do anything about it. I feel very strongly about suicide because it is so preventable but people don't see and people don't act and people don't care. Such a shame. I wish that the victim could've found someone or something.
