MISUNDERSTANDING.

MISUNDERSTANDING.

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

A YOUNG MAN AND THE WOMAN WHO OFFERED SEX.

"

There had been some misunderstanding
and she returned to the room

butt naked
and you unable

to say anything
gawped at the size

of her undressed flesh
and there was Mahler

on the hifi
blasting out

some loud movement
and she said

aren’t you coming to bed?
And there was that

contrast of light and shadow
where the lamplight

couldn’t show
and I don’t know

you replied
not sure of telling her

you’d dipped no wick
and she said

come on big boy
don’t be shy

and taking your hand
she led you along

the small hall
to where her bedroom waited

and bed and drawn curtains
and that small teddy bear

sitting unaware
what might

be about to happen
there.
