WAITING FOR FINBAR.

WAITING FOR FINBAR.

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

A WOMAN BETRAYS HER LOVER.

"

She sits on the seat on the railway
Station waiting for the train waiting
For Finbar to come back knowing she
Can’t tell him about the night she slept

With Milton and how it was such great
Sex and how he took her to one of the
Top restaurants where waiters played
Guitars and sang and took her to see

Tosca at the opera house and had the
Best seats and she loved seeing and
Hearing it all even though she thought
She’d be bored but wasn’t and sitting

There now all this comes into her mind
And the thought of Finbar finding out
From some other is worming its way into
Her mind and she looks at her cell phone

To see if he’s text but he hasn’t and the
Time ticks nearer to the arrival of the train
And she can sense Milton’s hand run along
Her thigh can feel his lips on hers as if he

Were still there and the train seems late
And the time presses in on her and the
Tick tick ticking of the clock seems to grow
Louder and the people on the platform

Passing by each to their own life’s luck or
Chance and death and she can only sit and
Wait for the train and Finbar trying to keep
The hands and lips of Milton from her mind

And thoughts and look along the platform for
The train feeling the dampness seep into her
Bones and flesh from the cold promised rain.
