MADGE & MOTHER.A Poem by Terry CollettA WOMAN AND THE MAN SHE LOVES AND HER MOTHER.Madge would never have Thought about him being There after dark or him Making love to her in such A fashion her mother had Been such a one for the Men always bringing them Home like a cat with mice Not all of them were nice And the occasional time They’d try to get her into The bed especially if her Mother was asleep too Drunk or drugged to know What the heck and her Father had skipped town When she was six and had Shacked up with some W***e in Los Angeles but Now this man has taken a Fancy to her has said he is In love with her and how Many times she’d heard That in the many years since The first had spoken such And him wanting to make Love to her and so gently too And for the first time ever She begins to trust and feel Deeply the love he shows And as she lies there in the Big bed with her head on His naked arm and his after Shave soaking into her and His breathing soft and human And warm and as she looks Out of the window she sees The moon and stars and then Remembers her mother staring Out of a window years before Smoking a cigarette full of sick Sadness and regret and the man Beside her now turns and cuddles Her and kisses her nose and brow. © 2011 Terry Collett |
