JUST ANOTHER SKETCH.A Poem by Terry CollettA MODEL AND HER THOUGHTS ON LIFE AND HER MOTHER.Just another sketch he said Just one more and Wally sat And sat and thought of other Things she’d rather be doing Taking in the way he sat and Charcoaled her into his old Sketchbook his eyes flickering Over to her now and then and As she sat feeling the chill bite And the sunlight coming through The high windows and the way She had to pose and hold the Position and don’t move he’d Say and remembering her mother Scrubbing the washing on the Washboard her hands red her Eyes tired and her body bending Over the tub giving Wally the Stare and in the eyes a dark Hollowness a wasted life a Drained resource and Wally Looking over at the artist with His charcoal and book and wild Gaze thought things better than Her mother’s tread through life With her burned out body and Mind and being the beat-up wife. © 2011 Terry Collett |
