NEVER UNDERSTOOD.A Poem by Terry CollettA WOMAN AND THE MAN WHO NEVER UNDERSTOOD HER.Foxboro never understood her not Even from the start she thought he had but Looking back now she knows he never had A clue that it was all talk and pretence And putting on the style and taking her Places he thought she’d like and getting her To meet people he thought she’d get along With but she didn’t like the places or The people he took her to meet with their Airs and graces and the boring places And he always skirted the questions he Always made out he never heard and oh Yes he’d say oh yes you’ll meet the best of People and go to the right places the In places and he’d sit back in his chair With that smugness of his and she thought he Understood her knew what she was about But he didn’t she knows now he didn’t Have a clue and waiting for another Day to begin waiting for the old day To go and become a bad memory Just another bit of her history Another closed page on the living book And she counts out the things she gave to him And the things that he tainted spoilt and took. © 2011 Terry Collett |
