OLD DAME.

OLD DAME.

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

MAX AND THE OLD DAME.

"

Max watches the old
Dame across the way
In the café, sipping

Coffee and flicking
Through a magazine,
And imagines she may

Have been quite a goer
In her time, a real good
Looker, have had men

Drooling over her a*s
And legs, looking into
Her deep blue eyes,

Wanting to wake up
Beside her in bed,
Each playing with

Images of her inside
Their head, but that’s
All gone now, Max

Assumes, taking in the
Lines on face, neck
And hand’s loose skin

And maybe the inner
Dame within, dreams
On about her days of

Love and sex with men
And all night parties
In downtown New

York. She sips, flicks
Through pages, looks
Up, sees Max’s beady

Gaze and gives a sexy
Smile reminding her
Of her former days.

I love this concept. I do love the way that life etches itself onto others' faces and smiles, and delight in imagining their stories. Another powerful and poignant vignette from one of my favorite characters in your work. Bravo Terry. :)
