DAME ON A HOT ROOF.A Poem by Terry CollettA WOMAN SUNBATHES ON A ROOF.Each day (except Wet days) she’s out There sitting on The flat roof in Her bikini Looking out at The city and Smoking and each Day she has this Air of some hot Goddess over Looking the mere Mortals who pass By below her. You’ve met her a Few times on the Stairs as she goes Up to her small Apartment clothed In a red dress That’s short enough To see the top Of her thighs and Swaying a*s that Melts your dull dreams. Some days she walks Alone, but on Other days she’s With some guy who Looks like Bogart Right down to the Eyes and hanging Cigarette in Between his lips. This morning she Sits there in her Dark bikini Gazing out at The city while Dragging away Slowly on the Cigarette, a Cigarette pack By her sweet a*s, Her hair freshly Showered, her fine Figure to die For, but there is No Bogart, just Her and the smoke And the city Below and you Watching, wishing, Hoping she’ll turn Towards you and Wave or give a Single middle Finger sign just To let you know She has seen you spy Beneath the big Blue city’s sky; But she doesn’t, She just looks out, Oblivious To you or your Fate or dreams or Deep held wishes Or even that you Stare; she just sits And smokes and has Her dreams and loves And thoughts and her Sunshine days, not Caring at all If you are there Or if you gaze. © 2010 Terry CollettReviews
