VACATION IN VALENCIA.

VACATION IN VALENCIA.

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

A MAN ON VACATION IN VALENCIA SENDS A POSTCARD TO HIS FRIEND.

"

Hank takes the postcard
To his room, sits on the
Bed and scribbles a few

Lines. Hi, Henry…I’ve met
Some nice dames since we
Stopped here for a few days

… One pretty one (like the
Dame on the front of the
Postcard) kept nibbling my

Ears and whispering all these
Spanish words, but I didn’t
Know what the heck she was

Saying…she showed me later
…the wine's good, plenty of it,
Too much Morris says. Yeah,

Would you believe that guy,
Goes off into town the other
Night with a dame on each arm

And leaves me with some old
Boiler who’s seen better days
And probably knew Franco’s

Father…Hank pauses, sips his
Wine. It rained the other day
Almost none stop and Morris

Got himself drenched…Serves
The arsehole right, taking two
Dames to town and leaving me

At the mercy of the old broad
…But things are looking up,
The old broad’s daughter has

Her eyes on me, and man, has
She got plenty to keep the eyes
Busy and tonight we’re going to

Paint the town red or blue or
Green or bright pink for all I
Care as long as it gets me into

Her arms and…Got to go…she’s
Knocking on the door…so long
Henry…give my love to my wife,

But don’t show her the postcard
…Hank puts down the pen and
Brushes his fingers through his

Hair, gives the mirror a wide grin
Before he lets the Spanish dame
With all her breasts and beauty in.
