AKOTO DREAMS.

AKOTO DREAMS.

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

AN OBESE GIRL DREAMS OF BEING THIN.

"

Akoto dreams of being
Loved; behind her closed
Eyes she imagines she’s

Being embraced, the arms
Of a lover holding her close,
Whispering love words, not

As they often do: you’re gross,
Crass, grotesque. She pretends
She not obese, behind the eyes

She’s slim and tall and has the
Boys and men all over her again,
Wanting to date, to kiss or hold

Or love or simply to admire. She
Thinks she can set the world on
Fire once the fats all gone, once

The flabs all history. Anything
Can be behind closed eyes; she
Can be as thin and beautiful as

She dreams. She caresses herself,
Embraces her naked form, holds
The fat and flab and mounds of

Flesh and dreams of thin and love
And need of sex and maybe other
Clothes to wear. She wants to open

Her eyes and see the other she; the
Thin girl, the one she wants to be.
