LOVE CANNOT LAST.A Poem by Terry CollettA BOY AND HIS AUNTIE IN EIRE IN THE 1950S.
Love cannot last, Auntie
Was stationed, her hand
Fields, disturbing birds,
Looking down at you, her
Like that, uttered out
Always stand when a
Did, only Auntie or
But you always stood
Talk with your mouth full,
Her middle finger, her
And the dog in its basket
Shaking your head and licking
A duck from water, saying
All love dies, and her voice © 2010 Terry CollettReviews
