DETROIT 1927A Poem by Terry CollettA WOMAN REMEMBERS A 1927 PHOTO SHOOT IN DETROIT.Rinski got you the Photo shoot, you and Those other three dames Holding hands around Some automobile; Some publicity Shot for the guys from The company who Wanted models to Show off their model, Without distracting From the car itself With too much of their Own beauty. Hold it, The photographer Said, just there, don’t move, Give it just a bit More breast there honey, That’s it. The chump took His picture, all smiles, All promises, more Work if he could bring It off, didn’t come Though, although you heard One of the dames made It to his bed, made It to his set. Some Girls don’t know any Limits; they’re all out For what they can get, Whatever’s offered. Rinski kept you close, He didn't want you Being the schmuck’s cast Off, no second rate Model, no pretty Pushover for the Photographer’s touch And feel. That was a Good shoot; you long out Lasted the car and The whims of the yerk With the camera, And you remember One of the dames who Held your hands, squeezed it A little bit too Affectionately, Rubbing her warm thumb Over yours, making Out it was all just A part of the shot, All for him, just her Being friendly, no Offence, but Mother Warned you of girls like That, the funny ones, The girl on girl kind Of affairs, but then, Maybe, just for a Moment or two, you Thought she had some lust For you or maybe Some deep affection, Some other kind of Love, far beyond your Knowing, some kind of Female heaven: yes Detroit, that posh car Photo shoot, nine Teen twenty seven. © 2010 Terry Collett |
