That Light Again.

That Light Again.

A Poem by Terry Collett

That light again,

just beyond dark.

Similar dream

and unable

to move or talk,

and those footsteps

on the staircase

that you can't see

just the sound of,

and that dead friend

there in the room,

you think you knew,

the furniture,

but it was old.

The dead friend said

nothing, just stared

and you wanted

to speak or move,

but did neither.

Then you woke up

and there was light

and darkness gone

like the dead friend,

and your life real,

able to feel,

able to move,

but nothing said

inside your head

by those now dead.
