Nima One Summer Day 1967

Nima One Summer Day 1967

A Poem by Terry Collett

Summer was coming over the hills,

the sky was a bright blue

with dabs of white clouds,

created seemingly

by children

with innocent brushes.

She sighed at the sight,

the view from the window

was just that a view

she could see

but not go out in.

The charge nurse came in

red-faced with heat

and she asked him if

she could go

out in the grounds

to which he said no.

She stood at the window

wishing she could go,

but she never did;

remained behind the high walls,

listening to the birds sing,

and their flight of

high rises and low falls.
