Etty and Darkness.

Etty and Darkness.

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

A woman with dementia and life.

"
Nothing was real
or seemed unreal.
She dragged the white
blanket over
her thin shoulder
to keep out cold,
hiding her head,
hearing voices,
passing footsteps,
keeping light out
preferring dark
and hidden warmth.
Who once kissed her?
were there others?
Time seemed other
long while ago.
Did she marry?
what happened then?
Did she have kids?
where were they now?
Why the questions?
and who asks now?
She shuts her eyes
fingers darkness,
feels the black cloth
that once was night,
shutting out light.
