DAME ON A TRAINA Poem by Terry CollettA MAN WATCHES A DAME ON A TRAINJohnny sees the dame on the train. 10'clock, space not time. Mousey hair, long, shoulder length. Earphones, iPod listening, eyes closed. Black slacks. Fawn coat, collar down, unbuttoned, black ankle boots. Wonders what she's listening to, music, type, genre, foot tapping slow. Eyes scan. Slim fingers, no rings. The train's movement moves her, head rolls side to side just discernibly. He studies how she moves, how her hair sways slight, how closed eyes, lids like pale small oyster shells. Perfume, slight, just about discernible smells. Train enters the station. He moves from his seat, leaves her in her private world, like a work of art, to view, but then depart. © 2015 Terry Collett |
