IT WILL KEEP 1972.

IT WILL KEEP 1972.

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

A COUPLE ON HOLIDAY IN FOREIGN CLIMES AND DRUNKENNESS IN1972

"

We come back
to our room
some foreign

cheap hotel
Abela
is well sauced

on fine wine
(we'd been to
some recital

pianist
playing Bach
and Chopin)

o Benny
did you see
his fine hands?

the fingers
how they moved
over black

and white keys
she utters
with a slur

did you see?
she kicks off
her black pumps

does a twirl
then falls back
on our bed

hands thrown wide
come get me
lover boy

slide you ship
into port
and she laughs

I switch on
the hotel
radio

some fat dame
is singing
I begin

to remove
her pink dress
(not easy

even if
she aids me
with closed eyes)

once that's done
I remove her
tights and bra

and skimpy
underwear
and put on

(her not me)
her short green
sleeping wear

then cover
her over
and she sleeps

the fat dame's
still singing
the moon shines

in the sky
and I sip
black coffee

and sit in
a brown soft
armchair and

there I  stay
and not play
the sex game

let her sleep
sex will keep.
