SHOWING HIM.

SHOWING HIM.

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

A GIRL AND BOY AND HER ROSARY AND HER KISSING

"

Sophia shows
Benedict her rosary
a white wooden one
with a silver plated crucifix

he was in Mr G's room
making the bed
sorting soiled linen
it was in her

slim palm
he looked at it
where'd you get it?
my parents

gave it to me
on my confirmation
she said
it looks nice

he said
touch it
she said
he touched it

she grabbed his finger
in her closed up hand
and lifted it
to her mouth

and sucked it
he tried to get
his finger out
but she held it tight

in her hand
what are you doing?
he asked
sucking your finger

she said
why?
I like to suck
he managed to get

his finger back
and wiped it
on his uniform
you not like

 me sucking?
she said
look I have to
get work done

he said
we could do it here
she said
gazing at the made bed

no not here
he said
shame
she said

she put her rosary away
in her uniform pocket
where we go?
she said

with a Polish accent
no idea
he said
I’m busy

she pouted her lips
you not like me
anymore?
she said

sure I do
but not here
and now
he said

I kiss you?
she said
ok
he said

and so she did
her arms about him
he hugged her close
lips on lips

and he needed
to get away
get on with
the next room

and bed to make
but she held him tight
wanting to take
this imagery

home with her
that night.
