THE HOOVER GUY 1975A Poem by Terry CollettA HOOVER MAN AND A WOMAN AND OWING PAYMENT AND A RESULT
There's a man at the door
Netanya's son said what's he want? she said don't know he said something about a hoover the boy said what's he want about a hoover Benny? she asked me maybe he wants to sell you one I said we've got one she said go ask him I said so she went to the door and the guy at the door said you're behind with your payments on a hoover so? Netanya said if I don't get what you owe then I have to take the hoover back he said that so? she said I just watched her go back indoors and the young guy stood there expectingly a smile beginning to form I stood looking past his head at the late afternoon sun then Netanya came back to the door carrying the upright hoover and shoved it in the young guy's hand she said here you are here's your hoover back she walked away the guy looked at me I said have a good day. © 2015 Terry Collett |
