You and I

You and I

A Poem by Nyx
"

Sometimes you can’t save someone. You can only watch as they’re torn apart by the monsters chasing after them.

"
For you were my light
On the darkest of days
Your radiant smile, that wanderlust gaze
Your mind was fragile, distorted and frayed
And you let me love you, through heartache and pain
As your father died, I washed off your face
Using the sleeves of my heart’s resting place
And I looked in your eyes, stormy and gray
As I saw your mind slowly start to decay
Life filled with sorrow, grief, and pain
You were too damaged, broken and slain
The demons had reached you, their trail underway
And their whispers were cutting, picking away
And as time went on, you would begin to find-
That even the light had no room to shine
For you fell in the dark, and their hands pulled you away from mine
As their grasp tightened on you, talons and vines
And your throat closed as words, you couldn’t find
With a rope around your neck, and a slit in mine
We ended the journey, no peace of mind
