A Strange Meeting

A Strange Meeting

A Chapter by Kristaps F
"

Jimmy meets a stranger.

"

Rain was banging against the window, conversations and laughs was hypnotizing, sips of coffee oozed cosiness. Jimmy's time went by as he sat at his favourite coffeehouse. His brain was ticking, cycling the book of quantum mechanics that he read. Jimmy was a smart kid reaching his young adulthood. He couldn't tell you the governor of his state but he could do hours of lectures for you about our solar system. Coffee was long cold and Jimmy turned the pages almost just as fast as the time turned hours.

After hours Jimmy still didn't want to leave, he had to. Rain stung his cheeks as he walked on the street. It was dark. The book was under his coat just as dry as it was right after he sucked it with his eyeballs.

Jimmy was a loner. Anywhere else aside his home and the coffeehouse was unpleasant to be at. This theory proved itself again that evening. Some stranger seemed to have noticed him and wanted his favor to be returned.

  "Hey, kid! Where you hiking?"

The stranger's laugh made Jimmy shiver.

"Why in such a hurry, boy? Afraid to miss a soap opera? Can't keep up with you."

Jerry ignored the stranger, but he would find it more satisfying to stab the strangers eyeballs.

"Jimmy, wait up! I've gotta tell you something."

  "Do I know you?"

"No, but I know you very well."

The only thing higher than car horns were Jimmy's eyebrows.

"I can explain. Come to some quieter place!"

Jimmy didn't want to look scared so he followed. They walked into a sideway making Jimmy look past his shoulder.

The stranger looked exited as he began. "You are the chosen one." Nothing could wipe that smile off of the strangers face.

After a moment of silence, Jimmy asked "What am I chosen for?"

  "God gave us a chance."

"What are you talking about?" Jimmy wasn't convinced as there was no God he was sure.

"This world isn't what you think it is. You have studied lots of science, but it didn't really tell you the truth."

"How do you know that I like science?"

  Strangers face turned serious.

"It was all predicted. Angels came to this world thousand years ago saying there will be the one sent by God. This world is the place where we, sinners, are held before Hell. We are all doomed. You are the only one who doesn't belong here, You must start the apocalypse in order to save us."

"And do you expect me to believe it?"

"You were raised as a christian, remember? In the orphanage. Mary read you the Bible."

Jimmy was free-falling as his feet couldn't feel the ground, cold sweat made him shiver. Jimmy turned around and walked away as fast as he could.

"You caņ't hide from us. You can't run from your destiny," the stranger shouted.

It's a very intriguing story. A man chosen to be the chosen one but can't admit it. It's a very gripping story, only with occasional grammar issues and maybe the lack of good verbs. I have accidentally read the chapter after this, but if I didn't, I would read the next.
