My Tiny Shell

My Tiny Shell

A Poem by Terinee Dozier
"

It's scary out there.

"

Still waves and a waking sunlight

Tell me not of brushing, holy fire

Dainty covers and steel walls

Shield my cotton body, to which evil tires

Their words to encourage

Past and bear

Only shrink me down further

As pain carries wind by its hair

A forcing of anxiety

Crackles within the heart

A broken mirror in wine

Never as sweet as a tart

Any efforts to save me

Sing like shouts in a sea

With no clear direction

Thus, the shark swallows thee

To give up so soon

Would be a guilty pleasure

So, I stay under the covers

Safe within my shelter

I liked the line "So, I stay under the covers, safe within my shelter", make me think of when I was a child and to hide from the monster under the bed I would tuck into my comforter and hide away. Thank you for the poem.

We should never entertain the notion of giving up. Even the worst of us still need to be here, if only as a cautionary tale. The 'devil' existed long before 'god'... perseverance over the "devil" is what created 'divinity'. Or do you think struggle was created to find the divine which already existed? It's a legit question. What are we really doing here? We might have accidentally believed in a lie en masse. A phenomenon that actually has nothing to do with religion.... more to do with group mental illness. I'm sure I had a point here but I've forgotten... drink water and sleep regularly.
