Creature Of DeceptionA Poem by Teresa BulgerA poem
Your lying lips were always desirable, no matter how gifted
I miss your hateful bitterness, from which I was slowly lifted Your memory lives in me forever, no matter how twisted You were always selfish, annoyed; how did I ever miss it? I wanted you to be offended by me and my dreams You didn't tell me all about you and your schemes I will never say your love was magical, surreal or fair When I gave you up for everything or nothing, I did not care My patience withered away, surrendered by your cold breeze Violence came straight from your frozen lips, just like a disease You taught me to be stronger, even when I couldn't move But you didn't give me love, so now I will always lose You were a creature of deception, an unspeakable crime You were intolerably charming, a ghost of another time This mental cage is binding me to your scars forever Now I see your face slowly weakening, severed together You were always behind the fine lines of total vanity Watching, waiting, I was pulled into your realm of insanity You were pompous, arrogance lived in your every bone It's why I eventually gave you up, it's why you're now alone Walking in your garden of illusions, my desperation cried Stumbling on your echoed lies, I swallowed my confused pride From within myself came the mercy and love I never received Here is where I found you dead, now I am happy and relieved © 2014 Teresa BulgerAuthor's Note
