The Addict

The Addict

A Poem by Terence Sheque
"

About a drug addict who has hit rock bottom, yet hopes against hope.

"

I sold my body, the dough was tough,

I had to survive.

I want to rise, I want to ride, just need a helping hand.

My souls a fen, I hate myself,

And smoke’s my only solace,

I want to rise, I want to ride, just need a helping hand.

The worlds a snub, I lost my faith,

The Gods have died on me,

I want to rise, I want to ride, just need a helping hand.

Ten years ago, a rosy hue, the boy had all my dreams,

And then that day I lost it all,

oh, how I wished I’d died,

I want to rise, I want to ride, just need a helping hand.

Now for the nit-picky stuff.
Should be:
My soul's
The world's

Your refrain does a good job at emphasizing your point.

I'm a mystery that very few are allowed to unravel. I'm generally quiet and guarded and don't let anyone in. But as the saying goes, silent waters run deep.......I may appear calm, but there's a lot g.. more..
