The StormA Poem by TerathopiusThis poem is the first work I had ever completed, typed with minor changes. I wrote it in a very difficult time in my life, but those times have passed.Down comes pouring rain, Across the fogging window pane The sun shines not in the world today Struggling to break the clouds so gray Oh, it battles on in vain To drive away this awful rain. The rain first fell when I was young, That was the last I saw the sun Dark and cold were gifts it brought Since, the light is all I've sought The wrathful maelstrom lingers on Shadowing all that once saw dawn. Now the rain has turned to snow, And summer seems so long ago My bones are chilled by the winter cold Fading hope says I will behold Once more the joy from days of old The clouds will break and sun will glow And cast away this dreadful snow. But every morrow, I find with dread No sun has come, and in its stead More snow, ice, and arctic air Comes to drown my hopes in despair And each morn, it further wanes As jack-frost now scars the window pane. Sol, oh Sol, will you ever return With your radiant warmth I yearn? Or has Fenrir, in rage, broke loose Destroying his binds and chains Devoured the sun, and moon in caboose? Does naught but night remain? No, I see- for as you fly, You simply choose to pass me by To other worlds you soar And never to orbit mine To free them of the icy storm But never here in Niflheim.
