Ferry man

Ferry man

A Poem by Tepo

A head that's wired to the moon
Decides to cook another spoon
Aware the end is coming soon
He dips into his stash

So tired of his game of chess
Each move left her a crumbling mess
The day she torched her wedding dress
Her heart returned to ash

She cleaned up several years ago
No knives or tantrums left to throw
Her life was tied up in a bow
Before the head on crash

Love cries out as it slowly dies
The glint long absent from his eyes
An addict in his tenth disguise
Has no more dreams to smash

The heat around her king sized bruise
Was melting as she heard the news
The ferry man sold him a cruise
Two pennies paid in cash

This is a butt-kicking piece of verse! I am so jealous of how good this is. Your rhyme & rhythm is spot-on & it adds to the treacherous overall tone of the storytelling. You dip into some mighty wells of sarcasm & make it resonate thru-out the entire read. So many snappy phrases that kick each idea off into the stratosphere: "cook another spoon" . . . "life tied up in a bow" . . . "addict in his tenth disguise" . . . "ferry man sold him a cruise" . . . all hard-hitting & dripping with cynicism. If I wrote something this good, I would leap the moon a few times (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Really appreciate the review
The final payment and probably the one we don't want to make.
The payment to the Ferry man.
Two pennies on the eyes you've paid your dues, and now you're just yesterday's news.

I am always a little confused about the language that relates to drug usage but I enjoyed the read because of its usage, although I don't suppose this write was intended to lift the spirits

Very taut, well rhymed, moving piece. It sounds as though the two had something in common, but she did something about it, whereas he sank deeper in. The crash ended it. I am thinking the "ferry man" was Charon, the boatman of the Styx.
