American Zombie

American Zombie

A Poem by Ted

You wake up, almost comatose

Drooling on your laptop, tablet

Ipad, iPod, iphone

Eyes staring dead at the TV screen

You get up and you’re reminded

Of the vile taste of tap water

The suffocating  city smog

The malicious, crisp, dry ,devoid scent of life

You go to your window,

The nightingale is dead, and the swan is high on morphine

Suddenly, you wake up again

Out of all these

You look in the mirror

And see what you’ve become

 American Zombie!
