Seven

Seven

A Poem by Kelly B
"

I combined some of the deadly sins with some of the cardinal ones. (What's the difference?)

"

Superbia (Pride)

I don't need your compliments

I already know

I'm as close to perfect as it gets

No matter what the situation

I'm the best

They say confidence is beautiful:

Call me Helen

Gula (Gluttony)

Insatiable hunger

Each taste

Bringing another craving

Never enough

Unending corpulence

And perpetual starvation

Ira (Wrath)

Eternal frustration

Annoyed with the world

Always something wrong

Disgusted with this abhorrent life

Loathing it all

Even myself

Invidia (Envy)

Wanting what's theirs

Don't I deserve it too?

Pining for positions and possessions

Things just beyond my reach

On the ever-greener other side

Acedia (Sloth)

Why waste life with hurry?

Work is overrated

Better to slow down

Smell the roses

Enjoy the pleasure of wasted time

Every day a lazy day

Avaritia (Greed)

I never have enough

And I never share

Wishing for the real world

Everything on a silver platter

No yours

Not even ours

Only mine

Luxuria (Lust)

Thoughts of you fill my mind

Heart racing

Craving your touch

Every nerve electrified

Imagining our bodies entangled

I can feel your heat

Taste your kiss

If only you were mine
