The Ocean Has No Memorie

The Ocean Has No Memorie

A Poem by AnthonyBrumley

On an island far

Away from this coast

A place where now I'm just a ghost

Some are clear memories

Some are not as they seem

Somewhere in the mist I lost track of my dreams

Hot summer nights down in Baja

Hot summer sweat pours down

Me and a friend on familiar corners

We've seen our share in this town

Get away get away get away now

I can't read your mind

Get away get away get away now

The answers I can't find

Cause I don't understand you

An you don't understand me

Together with this alcohol we breed insanity

Lady say's to me

I've been here to long

Man I hate this city pretty soon I'll be gone

Then she screams and grabs my arms

Say's I love you and i'll do little harm

Hot summer nights down in Baja

People go mad from the heat

Then they come over to

Our side of the street

Get away get away get away now

I can't read your mind

Get away get away get away now

The answers I can't find

Cause I don't understand you

An you don't understand me

Together with this alcohol we breed insanity

A wild and crazy poem. I travel Central and South America for three years with the military. I spend time in areas free from a lot of people. Poem remind me of the feel and emotion being lost and content. A excellent poem.

I like your poem. I hear the music, I see images and I feel the heat of the summer night. Oh, this is good. I want your poem to continue.

Possibly change the "to" to "too" in the line "I've been here to long".

this almost reads like a story or chant...that is told to children to understand the meaning of life. no, but, it creates a very vivid sense of place, and i enjoyed being sucked into its vortex. thank you. perfect necessary repitition.

It is something I've been working on and muling over. Think I'll leave it the way it is now. Maybe lay it down over a hand drum beat. Maybe.

Nice write, it reads like lyrics. There's really nothing else to say, it's just that good. I didn't see anything that needed to be critiqued. Great work! Keep it up! :)

This almost reads like song lyrics. It's very fluid and I like the style. My favorite lines: "Cause I don't understand you
An you don't understand me
Together with this alcohol we breed insanity"

Great write ^_^

I can say that the person behind this poem already died and it seems he stills wandering in the world, refreshing every moments he spared when he was still alive. Great write!

Isaiah 11:17 , there are lots of imagery in this piece.....many thoughts and emotions run through the veins of this piece. It has a pleasant rhythm "Get away get away...." welcome to this family

Best regards,
Vincent
