The S.C. Song

The S.C. Song

A Poem by Alexander Loux
"

A song teaching the rules about semi colons. Had to do this for a class.

"

Chorus:

Semi- colons may seem scary,

but you don’t have to be wary.

Your brain won’t have to get swollen

When you use the semi-colon.

The big deal is just to separate.

Don’t want those words trapped by a gate.

Use it with related I.D. clauses

without those FANBOYS and make some pauses.

Chorus

When the I.D. clauses are joined by a conjunc. adverb

the semi-colon becomes the chef’s main herb.

When the meal is ruined by a comma splice

the semi-colons the best advice.

Chorus

Using lots of commas may be confusing.

Use them between I.D. clauses to keep the mind from losing.

The milkman, Terry; and the fireman, Berry

need a semi-colon to make the sentence merry!

Chorus
