Chapter 3: Note from the Author

Alright, time to clarify on the setting of this story. The year is 2025, and this story is, obviously, based in Japan... But in a Japan where they had given their all in WW2. After the nuclear bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima, Japan didn't give in. Their resolution caused them to grow bolder, and they sent their entire fleet of bombers into Italy first, and then around to the East Coast of the USA.

Their target was Washington D.C and the White House, and although the US Air Force fought back with everything they had, destroying almost all of the Japanese air-fleet, the Japanese aircraft managed to drop their payload onto the Capitol, destroying the White House, and most of the memorials that remained, before being shot down and destroyed.

This, of course, prompted swift retaliation from the US Forces, who fired their third and final Nuclear bomb onto Japan's capital, Tokyo. The destruction of both countries' seats of power caused a large-scale series of riots, and anarchy rose for the next ten years. In 1955, Japan was suddenly taken back from the people, with a kind but firm military dictator, Nagasori Jizo, taking the reins and bringing Japan back to it's feet.

The US, on the other hand, took longer to get their Government back into power, and by 1964 had a new President, Markus Samaris, and was in the middle of peace talks with Japan's Prime Minister. A treaty was formed in 1971, known as the Treaty of Jizen, or the Treaty of Benevolence. This treaty was shaky on it's own, with both countries secrety plotting the downfall of the other, in revenge for the deaths of their forefathers.

Japan has been developing more scientifically advanced weaponry than ever before, creating their first mechancal humanoid armour in 2008, known as the Mojin. These behemoths have replaced the police force of Japan's streets.

The US, on the other hand, have taken a more brute-force approach to their military endeavours, with the modification of their tried-and-true weapons, such as the Sherman Tank, now into it's 300^th evolution, and still going strong...
