Chapter 5: Sect Sigma; Adam's Power RevealedA Chapter by Tenjho666They'd been walking for another good couple of hours now. The pair was making their way to the gates of Sect Sigma as fast as they could, but it seemed that the Guardian presence outside the city was just as frustrating as the Guardian presence within. Which meant many detours, and many headaches. On one particular occasion, Adam and 'Tasha managed to stumble across a small Guardian outpost. As the men filtered in and out of the building, 'Tasha managed to catch a glimpse of a pair of “Wanted” posters. Not only was Adam on there, but she was too! Adam had to console her, as she started to break down into tears. But they kept going, and kept on their weary way. Once they reached the gate of Sect Sigma, Adam just stopped in surprise. “That's new...” Standing before the gate were a lone pair of Guardians. One of them turned in their direction, and they both had to duck down suddenly, trying to hide from the watchful eyes of the Guardian. Adam swore softly, and the pair moved back into the depths of the foothills. So, once they were back in hiding, 'Tasha turned suddenly to Adam and sneered. “You said that there weren't any Guardians out Sigma!” Adam blinked, and shook his head defensively. “That was last time I checked. I guess they've started putting guards out there.” He sighed, before peering over the hill again. “There's no way in there. Which means we can't find the Third.” Adam's eyes narrowed, and he spat at the ground. He sighed, and leant against one of the trees, looking up to the sky. Stranger... The boy's eyes opened suddenly. Can you feel me? He looked around, trying to find the source of the voice. The source of the voice...? No, there wasn't a voice. But there was something else. “Adam?” The girl stood over him, a worried look on her face. She could tell " something was wrong. “Don't... know. Can't... feel... you.” Adam was speaking in circles, repeating the same thing over and over again. But something else was happening, something was stirring. He felt 'Tasha. But he felt someone else too. Another heart was tugging at his " as if he'd felt it's presence before... Who was it? Adam grimaced, and looked 'Tasha in the eyes. “Wait for me, here. I need to check something out. Don't follow.” He smiled softly, and held his hand to his heart, focussing on the source, just as he had done with 'Tasha's Resonance. He felt the familiar pull through space, and opened his eyes slowly, seeing a pair of red eyes in front of his. “Ah!” Adam jumped back, stumbling towards to the rear wall. The boy looked him over curiously, and slowly crept closer. “Who... are you?” The boy jumped backwards, eyes opened wide in shock. “Daigoro... Daigoro Ito. You just appeared in front of me...” Adam laughed softly. The guy looked just as shocked as 'Tasha had... But he wasn't wearing just a towel. “Daigoro? I'm Adam. I think we need to have a chat. Is there anybody else in the house?” The boy shook his head. “I live alone. And Guardians rarely call on me.” Adam smirked. Good, that made things easier " didn't have to worry about dead parents this time... “Alright. Can you feel something " resonating from me?” Daigoro thought for a couple of seconds, closed his eyes briefly and nodded swiftly. Adam smiled. “Good. Now can you please go and gather some supplies? I know it sounds horrible " but we need to take you away.” Dai's eyes widened. “We? There's another one of us?” Adam nodded. “A girl. Her name's Natasha, or 'Tasha.” Daigoro smiled, stood up and rushed off to gather supplies, leaving Adam with his thoughts. It was obvious that this guy didn't have much contact with the outside. He had no TV, and hadn't recognised Adam as the 'murderer' that TSC had made him out to be. Adam breathed a sigh of relief. That meant that he didn't have to worry as much. But how had he found Daigoro so easily? He certainly hadn't met him before, and there was no way he'd have known that the Resonance was his. What had Arya told him? There was more to their powers than just transportation, unique to each individual... Then maybe... The boy shook it out of his thoughts, and noted that Dai had come back. Adam smiled at him, seeing that he had a pack full of goods, ready to leave at any given time. But Adam wasn't making him leave yet. He still had something to ask him. “Why are you doing this, Daigoro?” His question was quick, and to the point. “You've never met me before, I randomly appear in your house, and yet you simply go ahead and choose to leave with me? What's your reasoning?” Dai smiled. “There's nothing for me here in Sigma. But trying to leave by myself would involve getting past all of the Guardians that had been stationed around this place. Besides, I already know about you. I felt your presence and tried contacting you, remember?” Adam blinked, remembering the newfound Guardians outside Sigma's gate, and the MESSAGE! “Now that I think about it, why are there so many Guardians around here now, Dai? And how did you contact me without speaking? I didn't know that it was possible...” “They're trying to crack down on the gang warfare, or something bull like that. And I don't know. I just did.” The boy offered a sheepish smile, and Adam nodded. “Alright. Time to teach you Attunation. Know that feeling you've hitched onto? The one you used to communicate?” Dai nodded. “You need to hitch onto it again. And follow it until you find me. Your body will know what to do. I'm going to leave now. Once you can feel my Resonance, follow it.” Daigoro nodded again, and Adam focussed on 'Tasha. The familiar feeling pulled him through space, and back outside, causing him to re-appear in front of 'Tasha and making the girl jump about fifty feet into the air. “I really need to get used to that. At least I'm not naked this time.” Adam nodded sheepishly, and he turned just in time to see Daigoro appear out of thin air. Adam yelped and jumped back, looking over to 'Tasha for some sort of support. All he got was a Told-You-So look from her. F*****g sarcastic little... Adam shook his head, and smiled. “I see you made it here. 'Tasha, this is Dai. Dai, 'Tasha.” The two shook hands, Dai bright red. Adam smiled and laughed, before seeing 'Tasha go ghost white. “What... just happened?” Adam blinked, and looked at Dai. The boy shrugged. “I heard a voice in my head!” “Oh, that.” Adam laughed. “It must be Dai's power. Just like I hitched onto his Resonance without seeing him. I think it has something to do with each of our heart's being different to every other one.” Adam offered, with a weak laugh. 'Tasha simply huffed, and turned away. “Well, what now, genius? Where do we go next?” “I might be able to help,” He piped in, “But I don't know if it'll work or not. I mean, I don't even know if this person exists. But they say that in the next city over, a girl leads a splinter group off of the Free Birds. Same age as us, and she seems to have the same commanding presence. And you thought I was just some random hermit...” Adam laughed and nodded, and turned in the direction of the nearest town. “So we're going to Karabold?” Dai nodded. “S**t.” Not Karabold. Anywhere but Karabold... Adam Koboltz sighed again. More Guardians to contend with... And the worst place to be in at the worst time of the year... © 2010 Tenjho666 |
