Heart of Hawk - Prololgue

Prologue

 

It all happened fifteen years ago. A small scientific company, known as the Terminus Scientific Corporation, or TSC, tried to make itself a well-known candidate for Government. They claimed that their goal was to use any resources they had, and/or could get, to make life better and easier for the general public, while doing it as cheaply and efficiently as possible. They also claimed that they'd give people more and more jobs to help support their families. The public listened and took it to heart, and TSC was quickly elected in to power.

 

That's when things changed. TSC's real intentions were revealed. They began to limit people's freedom, increasing taxes to fuel their scientific research. They created jobs alright, but these jobs ended up becoming increasingly ugly. People were reported missing, and found days later dumped in rubbish bags, horrible contusions and marks all over their bodies. They were proven to have been test subjects of some sort, but they weren't traced back to any kind of source.

 

When the public tried to have them taken out of power, they revealed their secret weapon: an elite army known as the Guardians. They kept law and order within the country " an iron fist of sorts. Curfews were placed on the people, and there was no tolerance for crime of any sort " someone who spat on the ground was subjected to repeated baton hits... for a good minute. Anyone who had been attacked by the Guardians were usually in bed with bruises for weeks.

 

But that wasn't all. People wanted TSC gone - but TSC didn't want to go. So they performed a coup d'etat. And the country was under TSC rule for good. That was five years ago, and the country has been going further and further into poverty ever since...
