My Daily 300 Words. Day 1.A Story by TenerifeSeaFor 30 days I will be writing 300 words on any topic that does not require research. I am trying to turn writing in to a habit.
I am trying to create a habit of writing. I actually like to write, I just don't think I am very good at it. I believe that writing is a skill, and just like every other skill it requires practise. I personally believe - and correct me if I am wrong -that writing is the easy part; it's manipulating and editing your writing which requires hard work. So begins my challenge of writing 300 words each day. I could spew the words on a Microsoft Word document, but I like the fact that someone else may actually read these words.
Time is the constant variable in anything successful. People grind at their skills to perfect them. Everyone has a different starting point on their journey to perfecting their chosen skill and some learn faster than others. Skills appear as a gift to certain individuals; although, it isn't always as it seems. I love a success story, who doesn't? But I also like reading about struggles to success and failures because that is what keeps me grounded and not walking around with my head in the clouds. One success story which always sticks in my mind is that Brian Cox received a grade D in A-level Maths. I beat Brian Cox in A-level Maths. Brian Cox is now a famous physicist and I cannot recall how to integrate or differentiate an equation. The difference? Cox worked on his chosen skill and continued to develop it further and I passed my exam and haven't bothered with maths since. I have 2 hours a day to myself. I rise at 6.00am due to my girlfriend's job, but I don't set off to work until 8.45am. That is a long time to perfect a skill and I have chosen writing. "The harder I work, the luckier I become"
