The Undefinable Depth

The Undefinable Depth

A Poem by TenderWritings

“That swiftness in her thoughts,

that smile on her face,

that glamor in her walk,

that depth of her eyes.

She could easily make anyone fall.

Slowly, blankness replaced that swiftness,

and the smile never remained that attractive.

With old age, gone was that glamour.

One night,

sitting by the fireplace, she smiled.

She challenged the old age,

‘Neither could you do it till now, nor you could ever will,

my promise would stay so would this depth, so shrill!’

The old age feared as it tried to touch those eyes.

Soon it took a step back, understanding,

that depth was meant to rise.”

The young girl left her youth behind. I suppose you can hold back age for a time, but just a time. Liked it.
