The Reflection

The Reflection

A Poem by Sandra Dawn
"

This happened about 5 years ago, and I will never EVER forget those feelings, so I have put them down on a page in hopes of relieving some of the pain...

"

Walking through the woods one night

I came across a pretty sight

In front of me a river wound

Swiftly moving without a sound

I saw a reflection, crisp and clear

and what I saw made me fear

---

Pale skin on a withering face

eyes that gave up the chase

for hope and health and all else good

and only I understood

---

All of life had left his eyes

He had no time to say goodbye

He passed away in a place so vile

I couldn't understand for quite a while

---

Only 8 years old I gave chase

To every challeng my father faced

I watched him stay alive and well

And then all of it went to hell

I watched him wither, I watched him die...

All that's left to do is cry....

Wow, this is really good. Very sad... I can sense a lot of emotion behind it. Nicely written.

I love the flow and rhythm in this write, and how you carry us through, although the ending sad, it is a nice piece well done.

Good job in describing yourself and seeing your own reflection. It took me a while to understand it but it was a good write for your first poem on here. Gj and keep it up.
