AutumnA Poem by Sophles
And it started as normal,
with a text and a sadness. And I met you with hope that I would make it better. And you didn't know it yet... And you asked me to run away and spend the day with you. and forget all our troubles away from the devils that sent us both hate. And you didn't know it yet... And we went to the park and we played on the swings and no one else mattered but us. We carved our names on a tree And climbed up high And you didn't know it yet... And we ran to your house and our hearts raced, as we hid from your mother so she didn't know we'd escaped. And we spent the day together. and you didn't know it yet... And then we walked in the rain, and I thought you were mad, and you grabbed my face and told me not to be sad. And we bought cookies for fun and we looked all over town. And you didn't know it yet... And I saw your new scars and my heart dropped downwards. I should have helped more. And I had you in my arms and we fell asleep like that. And I dreamt of this day, and I hoped you had to. Because what you didn't know was that this was the best day anyone had ever had, and I'm glad I spent it with you.
