Darkness/Dreams Within the Cage

Darkness/Dreams Within the Cage

A Poem by TelamVitae

Sometimes
You dig a hole
To admire
The world you know you cannot see.

Sometimes
Those you hate most
Are the ones you love
When they help you through.

Darkness
In the world,
When you cannot seem
To look around,

Darkness
Where someone says,
It's okay now,
I will help you out.

And you two walk along
A lonely path
Knowing only by the voice, no faces.

Hand in hand,

Stargazing
Up at nothing,
Lying down
On blackened hills,

But then one day,
Your eyes both open,
And you look around
At your empty world

As the dark blank shadows
Turn to color,
You close your eyes,
For you want darkness still.

For, you see
The biggest dreams come from the cage,

For, you see
The greatest joy comes from despair,

So you must simply lie,
Dreaming of the day you'll see the light...

Strolling
In the darkest corners,
Swinging hand in hand,
You lie down on the grassy fields
That you refuse to see,

For you see,
You are the birds in a cage,
Simply singing of the world you want to see,
But when you find it,
And look at all that wonder,
It takes your dream away.

So dig a hole,
And make a cavern,
A world for you and me,

A cage for us to dream within,
The darkness where we see.
