Lancelet

Lancelet

A Story by Teh_Az
"

Someone advised me to write some shorter stuff than what I usually do. Something a bit freer than the usual genre stuff I do and this came up after I was trying to make a character for a game. Basically, it's about a boy who was raised by monks

"
Faith.

It is always good to have faith in something. Faith, is not an excuse. Faith, is the ability to know that there is something better without actually knowing that there is something better. Faith, is knowing what is good without being taught what is good.

We were all born with a conscience. Many adhere to principles that assert our consciences to be of the diverse sort. Many would say that the way we see the world is a way of infinite numbers. There is no one truth that holds us all together.

No, there is a truth. We were born with it. It is inside us. It is merely up to us whether we listen to it or not. For you see, faith is not just an understanding, it is an inner voice that is nearer to the truth than the voice you would hear from others. Ah, quite so. We have all learned that a man must not rely too much on others. Well then, it should be the same here. We were all born with a conscience, a conscience that comes from the same singular truth. If so, no one has the excuse of having others be their conscience for them. Each and every one of you here has his or her own voice.

It gaurds your every path and is unique to you and you alone. It is a voice that would never leave you, never betray. For many of us, it is a voice often ignored. But, for those of us who believe, it is a voice so loud and clear we could almost see a face behind that voice.

"Brother Armin," a young man raised his hand.
"Yes, Lancelet?"
"I could hear a voice. It's very clear, like water. It helps me sleep at night, singing to me when I get scared."
"Ah, good child, Lancelet, good child. See, he could hear his voice because he listens," Brother Armin was quick to rub the lesson into the youngest followers of his church, "Now tell me, Lancelet, what does that voice tell you?"
"He told me to save the world."

Everything you see above is a product of free writing so I didn't do any edits on it. It was all just done to flex and practice freeing myself.
